If you’re anything like me, you take about 6,000 screenshots a day. Wishing, hoping, praying that someday, somehow you’ll actually go through the gallery full of past versions of yourself screaming, "pay attention to this!" and finally follow through on their demands. I thought it was an ADHD thing, but turns out a lot of you neurotypical baddies are guilty of this digital hoarding too.
Let’s face it, no one ever actually sifts through their screenshot treasure-trove. That skirt you wanted? That quote you're convinced holds the key to enlightenment (if only you could remember it…)? That perfect blanket earmarked for a friend's birthday nine months in advance (screenshotted three times for good measure)? All these things will slip away into the ether, never to be bought or even pondered, ever again.
I’ve been a compulsive screen-shotter for years, (I have exactly 22,588 of them on my phone right now) and about two thirds of my collection reads like a humbling time capsule of my 20’s. I still have a humiliating, millennial-pink screenshot from June 2014 of a quote that says, “it’s all messy: the hair. the bed. the words. the heart. life…” (send help). Also, Kendall Jenner’s haunting For Love and Lemons Coachella outfit from 2016…fml…
With another year of screenshots almost over, I began to feel that this addiction of mine was destined to serve some purpose other than to make me retrospectively cringe. SO I decided to reach back into the garbage and turn my digital landfill into something you all might enjoy. A tour de screenshot, if you will. Also, yes my phone is always on the verge of death, thank you for noticing.
This screenshot is for the woman I’d like to be and am not. In another universe I’m a wizard in the kitchen and can remember to take my Lexapro every day. And when I’m in said kitchen being a properly-medicated-domestic-goddess, I would wear this.
This is my dream collab. I ordered these and one other pair.
To be honest, I keep this screenshot of an old fever I had handy in case I need to cancel on someone and need a good excuse. Shit now I’ve outed myself…I’ll regret this later.
Glosier revamped my favorite of their products, the Genereation G Lipstick. It looks so natural, kind of like you just ate a beautifully colored popsicle and their new formula is stunning. I’ve bought and tried every lip product out there and this Glossier one in FUZZ plus the Chanel’s Rouge Coco Baume (Natural Charm is my favorite but they’re all great) are my forever favorites.
I took this screenshot to show my cocky husband who is on a fitness kick. I bought a rebounder (fancy word for mini tramp) because TikTok told me to and while he goes on his stupid morning run I’m busy lazy-girl bouncing. I’m not convinced this is accurate but let’s pretend it is.
My friend needed a Christmas gift idea for her sister so I sent her this screenshot of these Sophie Buhai earrings I bought last month and j’adore. If you’re more of a gold girlie pop, these were a rec from Laura Reilly’s newsletter.
Uptown Girls is my entire identity. My style icon is Molly Gunn and my personality icon has, and always will be Ray. I don’t really remember why I took this screenshot, I think I took it to remind me to invest in a pair of overalls, or to copy Ray’s miniskirt and knee-highs, or to be them for Halloween next year?
Speaking of Uptown Girls, I took a screenshot of these Ray coded sunglasses a month ago and finally bought this weekend.
Kept London has great vintage finds for your home, many of which I’ve bought. My fingers weren’t quick enough to snag these bookends and I’m still salty about it.
I bought the red one for Taco. He looks stunning in it.
This was hands down the best engagement gift we got from my siblings-in-law. Dylan and I used it to write all our wedding thank you notes. I just orfered a new batch with, of course, the light of my life Taco on them.
I interviewed Matt Rogers a couple weeks ago (listen here) who, like moi, is obsessed with all things Bravo and Christmas. This is my favorite song from his Christmas album. I highly recommend going to his live show. I went last year in Chicago and I’m going again in LA when he’s here later this month.
THIS IS THE GREATEST HAIR PRODUCT. I left it at my mom’s house for a week and my life fell apart. I took this screenshot and texted it to my mom so she could buy one for herself and not steal mine. It smooths, it hydrates (with NO residue), it revives and gives you that fresh blowout look. Buy one and buy one for your friend.
I’m going to Cabo next week and I wanted to wear this dress while I’m there but, tragically, it won’t get here in time. So one of you should buy it and wear it on your next vacation in my honor.
This was to remind myself to watch May December. I watched it. It was pretty good. I’d give it a 6/10. 10/10 for Julianne Moore’s lisp.
I’m proud to report this was a screenshot that actually turned into a purchase. My sister had one that I tried on at her house and fell in love with so I bought one (only after emailing and texting this screenshot to myself 100 times). I never take it off, I love, love, love it. My winter wardrobe is this skirt, with an oversized sweater/sweatshirt, with these Wolford tights, these socks, and some sort of cute shoe (like these).
Am I the only one who remembers this candy? I woke up at 4am thinking of it and now I want to order a pack.
I love/want/need this painting.
What I've learned (through TikTok) is that there are no unique human experiences. For the most part, mot of us are dealing with the same shit and have the same issues, especially when it comes to fighting with our significant other. These are our lord and savior Esther Perel's thoughts on conflict and hope to remember them next time I'm yelling at Dylan (my husband) for being on his phone too much.
A little home inspo. I love these shelves by Jeremiah Brent. They cute.
I was looking through old pictures on my phone and I stumbled upon this picture from February. I screenshotted it to remind me how much I like the way I look when my eyebrows are laminated by Lily Maldonado (@lilymaldonadobrows) hoping that I’d remember to make an appointment. And I did! I’m going next week, yay for me.
This is a screenshot of all the inspo I had for my wedding decor and invitations that eventually turned into this (below).
if you ever take ANY recommendation of mine let it be these shoes. I’ve had them for three years and I still wear them at LEAST three times a week. People think they’re designer but they’re not and they’re so durable, cute and comfortable. 10’s all around, can’t overstate their greatness.
A friend of mine started this organization called The Charlie Fund that supports mental wellness projects & community activations. They post gorgeous infographics like this one and I screenshotted it so I could bring it up on the pod this week. British anthropologist Robin Dunbar believed that humans can maintain up to 150 stable relationships: 5 intimate friends, 15 good friends, 50 friends, 80 acquaintances.
Inspo for a Live From Bed promo shoot we’re doing in January.
I tried this on last week and haven’t stopped thinking about it. Might have to be my birthday gift to myself.
I don’t know what it is about this necklace but I feel like I need it.
fin.
I could go on forever but I must allow you to go about your day now. Let me know if you like this screenshot dump idea—I’m thinking of doing it weekly.
